Research is the main work of any R & D Centre. Accordingly, the CRD was established to give prominence to needs-driven research for achieving sustainable development. It is also to serve as an incubator for both public and private sector initiatives. As a non-profit organization, it earmarks all the revenue generated through its activities for spending on research. The disbursement of fellowship and research grants to distinguished Nigerian scholars has been in practice since 2005. Applications for the fellowship and research grants of the CRD are usually advertised in national newspapers and on the AAUA CRD page ( The grants are open to all Nigerians holding the M.Sc. or Ph.D regardless of age, place of birth, sex, or religion.
